Templeton man found dead on train tracks in Baldwinville IDed, cause of death determined

BALDWINVILLE — On Saturday, September 7, 2024, at about 1:04 p.m. the Templeton Police Department’s dispatch center received a report of a deceased man on the railroad tracks along State Road in Baldwinville.

Police arrived on scene along with the Templeton Fire Department and confirmed the report.

The Massachusetts State Police Detectives Unit were called to the scene as well, along with representatives from the railroad company, B&M Railroad.

The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office identified the deceased man as James M. Dennis, 38, of Templeton.

On Tuesday, the Templeton Police Department announced in a statement posted to Facebook that the preliminary investigation revealed that Dennis had been struck by a train Saturday night.

The Templeton police, Massachusetts State Police Detectives Unit, and B&M Railroad are continuing to investigate the death.
