LOWELL — A fatal shooting at an apartment complex on Pawtucket Boulevard is under investigation after one man was killed Thursday afternoon.
According to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the incident occurred just before 4 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, and involved a brief altercation between two men who were known to each other from the building.
Officials said both men were in possession of apparent firearms during the encounter. One of the men suffered gunshot wounds and was transported to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The other man remained at the scene, and authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The investigation, which is ongoing, is being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, and Lowell police.
