Douglas man charged for using wrong plates to conceal vehicle’s revoked registration

DOUGLAS — On Thursday, January 1, 2026, at approximately 5:43 p.m., Officer Jonathan Gomes of the Douglas Police Department was patrolling Main Street when, on a hunch, he conducted a random plate query on a blue Honda Pilot with Massachusetts plates.

(The account and quotations in this article were sourced from the printed Personnel Narrative of Officer Jonathan Gomes for the incident and do not reflect any political perspective or personal opinion of News Link Live, which is strictly a business entity.)

Officer Gomes said that when he ran the registration for the Honda Pilot through the the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) database in the mobile data terminal of his cruiser, CJIS indicated that the registration was revoked for insurance on a black-colored Chevy Colorado.

“I conducted a stop of the vehicle a short time later and identified the operator to be Manuel Ochoa-Ardon,” Officer Gomes said. “Manuel admitted to knowing the registration was suspended and he also advised me that he was recently stopped for the same violation. Manuel was able to provide active insurance on his cell phone.”

According to police, Manuel E. Ochoa-Ardon, 37, is a resident of Douglas, MA.

Officer Gomes said Ochoa-Ardon’s vehicle was towed from the scene and his registration plates were seized.

Officer Gomes said Ochoa-Ardon was issued a Massachusetts Uniform Citation in the form of a summons for the following offenses:

  • Number Plate Violation to Conceal ID
  • Operate Motor Vehicle with Registration Revoked

Ochoa-Ardon’s arraignment was scheduled for the morning of Jan. 2, 2026, in Uxbridge District Court.
