DOUGLAS — On Monday, January 12, 2026, at approximately 2:37 p.m., Officer Jacquelyn Brimmer of the Douglas Police Department reported that a named witness known to the Commonwealth called the department to report a grey Mazda traveling eastbound on Southwest Main Street passing vehicles at a high rate of speed and was estimated to be going more than 60 mph.
The reporting party also said the vehicle did not have regular plates attached.

“The vehicle and the reporting party were approaching Family Convenience traveling eastbound on Main Street,” Officer Brimmer said. “I observed the reporting party pointing to the vehicle in front of him, matching the description as it passed my location. I conducted a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle on Main Street just prior to downtown. The operator was identified as Leamsi Prieto. He stated that he owned the vehicle, purchased it two months ago, but did not have a bill of sale, the vehicle was not registered, and he did not have insurance on the vehicle.”

According to police, Leamsi Stylez Prieto, 24, is a resident of Danielson, Connecticut. Court records indicate he’s single and unemployed.
“He was then handcuffed and detained during our investigation as Detective Sergeant [Aaron] McLaughlin observed the key to be broken off in the ignition,” Officer Brimmer said. “I was advised by dispatch that his Connecticut permit was suspended, which I then confirmed through my cruiser’s MDT [mobile data terminal]. When confirming the vehicle’s VIN number, I observed there to be a piece of paper over it on the dashboard. I located the VIN on the driver’s door which showed a suspended registration status with the previous owner.”
Leamsi Stylez Prieto, 24, of Danielson, Connecticut, was arrested and charged with the following violations/offenses:
- Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Unregistered Motor Vehicle
- Uninsured Motor Vehicle
- Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Speed Greater than Reasonable and Proper
“The area where this occurred is an unposted 40 mph zone. This negligent operation of a motor vehicle could have put the lives and safety of the public at risk.” Officer Brimmer said, adding that the reporting party also provided a written statement.
Prieto’s arraignment was scheduled for the morning of January 13, 2026, in Uxbridge District Court.
