BELCHERTOWN — On Sunday, April 5, 2026, at about 3:45 a.m., the Wilbraham Regional Emergency Communication Center received a 911 call reporting a vehicle left its lane of travel, struck a tree, and the occupants were trapped inside the vehicle.
According to Belchertown Police Chief Kevin Pacunas, Belchertown police and fire personnel responded to the scene, and a mutual aid ambulance was requested shortly after their arrival.
In a statement, Chief Pacunas said the vehicle was occupied by five people, including the driver. Four occupants were transported to the hospital by Belchertown, Amherst, Granby, and Palmer fire personnel, while a fifth occupant was transported by a family member. Two of the occupants sustained critical, life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Belchertown Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police.
