ORANGE — An Athol man plead not guilty to 11 charges stemming from several alleged domestic violence and sexual assaults incidents in 2021 and 2022.
Christoper Mundell, 36, of 409 Sanders Street Apt. 1, Athol, was arraigned in Orange District Court Friday on seven accounts of of assault and battery on a family member and single counts of the following: kidnapping, strangulation, indecent assault and battery on a person over 14.
After his arrest Wednesday, Mundell was held on $50,000 cash bail until his arraignment on Friday.
Following his arraignment, Judge Laurie MacLeod set his bail at $1,000 under the condition that Mundell wear a GPS monitor and stay away from the alleged victim.
Mundell served time in prison after he was arrested in May 2009 for raping his girlfriend’s 2 ½ year old daughter while babysitting for her. In addition to the rape, Mundell set the girl’s blanket on fire and slashed her upper thigh with a knife police found tucked into his shoe, the Telegram & Gazette reported.
According to the Sex Offender Registry Board’s Public Website, Mundell became a Level 3 sex offender.
He is scheduled to appear in court again on May 5 for a pre-trial hearing.
