AYER – The Ayer drowning victim who died while swimming at Sandy Pond Beach – his hometown’s public swimming area – has been identified by state police as 19-year-old Souhayl Zaker.
On Saturday, July 22, at approximately 3:12 p.m., lifeguards at Sandy Pond Beach called local police from a medical call box asking for assistance with a potential medical emergency and water rescue because Zaker had been “unaccounted for in the water.”
Lifeguards and emergency personnel systematically searched the pond with the state’s District 8 dive team. According to police, Zaker was found several minutes after the search efforts began in 6 to 8 feet of water.
Zaker was transported to Nashoba Valley Medical Center, then airlifted to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington.
He was pronounced dead Saturday evening.
The day following Zakar’s death – on Sunday evening – former President Barack Obama’s chef, Tafari Campbell, 45, of Virginia, drowned after falling off a paddle board on Martha’s Vineyard.
Officials say Campbell’s body was found at about 10 a.m. Monday, eight feet below the surface and 100 feet from the shore of Edgartown Great Pond.
What does some guy who drown and worked for a crooked racist that lives on the vineyard have to do with a teenager drowning in Ayer?
