BOSTON — The National Weather Service Boston/Norton MA office is predicting a “gorgeous” Father’s Day weekend with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s, humidity will also be noticeably lower, with dewpoints dropping into the 40s and 50s.
However, a dangerous heat wave is expected to hit the Commonwealth next week.
The National Weather Service warns that extreme heat and humidity will affect not only Massachusetts, but the entire New England region. The heat wave is expected to start on Tuesday and continue through Friday, potentially reaching record highs for the month of June in some areas.

The heat and humidity are anticipated to peak between Wednesday and Friday, with heat indices nearing record highs of 95-105 degrees. Relief from the heat will be limited to the immediate coastal areas during periods of localized sea breezes.
“There will not be much relief at night with heat indices remaining in the 70s,” the National Weather Service said in a statement. Later adding, “That being said…near record high temperatures with modest instability will result in a widely scattered t-storm threat. This risk may increase towards the end of the work week as a cold front approaches the region.”
