Three injured, one critically, after tree falls on them on Maple Street in Orange


ORANGE — Three people were injured, one critically, when a tree fell on them on Maple Street this afternoon. The incident occurred around 4:04 p.m., prompting a coordinated emergency response from multiple local agencies.

At the time of the incident, the local station was unstaffed due to a previous call, Orange, MA Fire Rescue EMS announced in a Facebook post. An ambulance from Athol Hospital, clearing a transport, responded along with Athol Fire Department Ambulance and off-duty personnel from the Orange Fire Department. All three victims were transported to Athol Hospital with varying injuries. One of the victims sustained critical injuries.

Medical helicopters were requested to assist in the emergency, but they were grounded by high winds. Ground crews from Lifeflight were instead requested to provide additional medical support.

Simultaneously, another medical emergency in town was managed by call force personnel and Northfield EMS Ambulance.

The identities of the injured individuals injured in the tree fall have not been released yet.
