A fishing crew working about 40 miles off the Massachusetts coast discovered a decomposing body entangled in their nets Thursday morning, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
Detectives from the DA’s office, along with the U.S. Coast Guard, responded to the fishing vessel after it reported the discovery upon arrival in Boston. The DA’s office said the body “was wrapped and in a state of decomposition.”
The remains have been transferred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy. Authorities have not released further details about the identity of the individual or the circumstances surrounding the discovery. The investigation is ongoing.
