CHICOPEE — A Springfield woman has been arrested and arraigned in connection with an alleged hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a Massachusetts State Police trooper early Tuesday morning on Interstate 90 West.
According to a June 11 statement from the Hampden District Attorney’s Office, 32-year-old Naisha Rodriguez was taken into custody at her Springfield home around noon Tuesday, hours after the crash occurred near Exit 51 in Chicopee. She was arraigned today, June 11, 2025, in Chicopee District Court on charges of operating under the influence causing serious bodily injury, misleading a police investigation, and leaving the scene of a crash causing personal injury. Bail was set at $500,000 without prejudice.
According to Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni, at approximately 2:20 a.m. on June 10, a vehicle struck a trooper who was conducting a motor vehicle stop along the westbound lanes of I-90. The driver fled the scene, officials said. The injured trooper was transported by emergency responders to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield and is currently listed in stable condition.
Troopers from multiple specialized units — including the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office — responded to the scene, along with an assistant district attorney from the Motor Vehicle Fatality Unit. The State Police Employee Assistance Unit also responded to support first responders.
Detectives from the Hampden District Attorney’s State Police Detective Unit and Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section-West later identified Rodriguez as the suspect and arrested her without incident.
Rodriguez is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Her next court appearance is a pretrial hearing scheduled for July 10, 2025.
The incident remains under investigation by the Hampden District Attorney’s Office and Massachusetts State Police.
