Officer Hannah Fonseca and Officer Tyler Nichols were also dispatched to the scene to assist.

“Upon arrival, officers were able to locate the reporting party identified as Michael [last name redacted] in the back of the parking lot area where most of the homeless gather,” Officer Benson said. “As I approached Michael, I observed his left hand to be dripping blood where he sustained an injury. Michael stated that he got into a physical altercation with another male party, identified as Jordan Peters, and received a laceration to his finger as a result.”

According to police, Jordan Jabri Peters, 31, is a resident of Summer Street in Taunton, MA.

Officer Benson said that Michael’s wife was also at the scene. She told Officer Benson that Peters had been harassing her prior to Michael’s arrival.

“She stated that Jordan approached her and began yelling at her that he wanted his belongings that were allegedly in a plastic bag within that area. She stated that Jordan was scolding and verbally abusing her before Michael showed up,” Officer Benson said. “Once Michael showed up, he told Jordan to leave the area and to leave [his wife] alone. Michael stated that Jordan then left the area before returning with what they claimed to be a ‘long metal pipe’ and threatened harm against Michael.”

Michael told Officer Benson that he then threw the plastic bag at Peters, and that was allegedly when Peters swung the pipe at him, striking his hand and causing a severe laceration to his finger requiring medical attention.

“Upon this action, Michael stated that Jordan ran off in the direction of Washington Street before calling 911,” Officer Benson said. “At this time, I returned to my cruiser and retrieved my medical bag and obtained several bandages and wraps to apply to Michael’s finger while we waited for Taunton Fire and EMS to arrive. While rendering aid to Michael, Officer Nichols searched the area for Jordan and located him in the parking lot. Jordan was placed in handcuffs (double-locked and checked for tightness) and was placed into the rear of cruiser #2206. Officers attempted to locate the weapon that was used in the assault; however, it is presumed that Jordan discarded it somewhere when he ran away from the incident.”

Officer Benson said Michael was transported to Morton Hospital for further medical evaluation of his finger.

“Michael, along with [his wife] were advised of their 258E (Harassment Prevention Order) rights and how to obtain an order at the courthouse,” Officer Benson said.

Jordan Peters was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Assault & Battery with Dangerous Weapon

Peters’ arraignment was scheduled for July 31, 2025, in Taunton District Court.
