โ€œI recognized the female as Tasha DiGeronimo from previous incidents I have had with her as a Clinton Police Officer,โ€ Det. Guerra said. โ€œShe was wearing flip flops, a hooded sweatshirt and carrying a black purse. I had knowledge that Tasha had an outstanding arrest warrant out of East Brookfield District Court.โ€

Tasha DiGeronimo, 44, is a Leominster resident who works as a substance abuse counselor at Fitchburg State University, according to her LinkedIn profile.

The Telegram & Gazette reported that in January 2013, DiGeronimo โ€” who has a history of alcohol use disorder โ€” was charged with drunken driving, operating a motor vehicle after license revocation, larceny of a motor vehicle, assault with a dangerous weapon (motor vehicle), destruction of property over $250, two counts of leaving the scene of a property damage accident, a marked lane violation, and vandalizing property.

Police said the charges stemmed from a crash at 64 Abbott Avenue in Fitchburg, where DiGeronimo allegedly struck a multi-unit residence, causing significant structural damage and a natural gas leak that displaced two families living in the building.

Detective Guerra stated that while confirming the warrant on the mobile data terminal inside his cruiser, he saw DiGeronimo walking toward Water Street.

Detective Guerra said that after confirming the warrant, he notified dispatch that he had made contact with DiGeronimo in front of 23 Water Street. Officer Kristopher Vazquez then arrived on scene to assist.

โ€œOfficer Vazquez and I advised Tasha of the outstanding warrant,โ€ Det. Guerra said. โ€œOfficer Vazquez placed her in handcuffs (DL) [double locked] and transported her to the Clinton Police Station where she was booked and afforded all applicable rights pertaining to anyone in custody including Miranda and a phone call, which she made.โ€

During the booking process, Patrolman Vazquez conducted an inventory of DiGeronimoโ€™s purse.

โ€œInside the purse, Tasha had two individual 8mg strips of Suboxone,โ€ Det. Guerra said. โ€œBoth were closed and sealed. She confirmed that she does not have a prescription for them. Tasha’s booking process was completed and she was advised of the new charge. She was then placed in a female holding cell to await bail.โ€

Tasha DiGeronimo was charged with the following:

  • Warrant arrest
  • Possession of a Class B Substance (two counts)
