Gravel spill in Groton leads to arrest of dump truck driver wanted for larceny and fraud

GROTON — On Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, at approximately 9:57 a.m., Officer Ian Pereira of the Groton Police Department was dispatched to the area of Nashua Road and Wyman Road following a report of gravel dumped in the roadway.

Upon his arrival, Officer Pereira observed that the eastbound lane of Nashua Road was covered with a layer of dirt and rocks for approximately 500 feet, continuing onto Wyman Road.

“A dump truck bearing MA reg. # [redacted] was leaving a new construction site located at 356 Nashua Road, and the driver failed to secure the latch on the tailgate of the dump truck,” Officer Pereira said.

Officer Pereira stated that he spoke with the operator of the truck, identified by a New Hampshire driver’s license as Bruce M. Wilson of 140B Bush Hill Road, Hudson, New Hampshire. The officer informed Wilson that he would be issuing him a citation for having an unsecured or uncovered load.

“I returned to my cruiser and ran a query of Mr. Wilson’s license/registration on my cruiser’s MDT [Mobile Data Terminal],” Officer Pereira said. “Mr. Wilson was operating a vehicle requiring a CDL [Commercial Driver’s License].”

Officer Pereira said that the query revealed that Wilson’s New Hampshire commercial driver’s license had expired on March 30, 2023.

“The Massachusetts Warrant Management System alerted that there was an active arrest warrant for Mr. Wilson,” Officer Pereira said. “Dispatch confirmed the warrant.”

Officer Pereira noted that the straight warrant had been issued on July 16, 2024, by Judge Cesar Archilla of the Haverhill District Court for the following offenses:

  • Larceny over $1200
  • Larceny over $1200 by False Pretense

Officer Pereira said a third charge of credit card fraud over $1,200 occurred on September 25, 2023, in Boxford, Massachusetts.

According to police, Bruce Wilson, 63, is a resident of Revere Road in Tewksbury, MA.

At this time, Sergeant Kevin Henehan, K9 Officer Gregory Steward, and Officer Justine Wagner arrived on scene.

“Mr. Wilson was made aware of the active warrant,” Officer Pereira said. “He was placed under arrest, handcuffed (double locked) and placed in the rear of my cruiser. I then transported him to the station for booking. Mr. Wilson was given permission for the vehicle to remain parked on the work site.”

In addition to the warrants, Bruce Wilson was issued a Massachusetts Uniform Citation for the following:

  • Unlicensed operator of a Motor Vehicle
  • Load Unsecured/Uncovered
