BOSTON — Governor Maura Healey announced on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, that her administration is directing full Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to be paid following a federal court order requiring President Donald Trump to restore funding withheld during the federal government shutdown.
According to a statement from Governor Healey, Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll and the Department of Transitional Assistance, recipients who missed payments during the funding lapse should begin seeing benefits on their Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards as early as Saturday. Households that have not yet missed a payment will continue receiving benefits on their regular schedule.
“President Trump should never have put the American people in this position. Families shouldn’t have had to go hungry because their president chose to put politics over their lives,” Healey said in the statement. “We are now getting these benefits out to families who desperately need them. I am grateful to the people across Massachusetts who continue to step up and help their neighbors in this time of need.”
Healey also thanked Attorney General Andrea Campbell for challenging the Trump administration’s decision in court, and the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) for maintaining operations during the disruption.
“The Trump Administration has appealed Thursday’s court ruling,” Healey said. “The Department of Transitional Assistance will continue to monitor for impacts of that appeal and provide updates to SNAP recipients.”
