Leominster man’s tirade against mother ends in arrest, witness intimidation charge

LEOMINSTER — On Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, at 1:48 a.m., Officer William Taylor of the Leominster Police Department was dispatched to an apartment at 149 Fourth Street for a second disturbance there that night.

“Wayne Lemieux called stating he was fighting with his mother, [name redacted],” Officer Taylor said. “Standing outside the apartment building, before knocking on the door, I could hear Wayne inside yelling at [his mother]. The thickly settled residential neighborhood was otherwise quiet at that time.”

According to police, Wayne H. Lemieux, 52, is a resident of Leominster, MA.

“Wayne answered the door and invited police in,” Officer Taylor said.

Officer Taylor reported that Wayne continued behaving belligerently and refused to comply with his command to sit in a chair. He said this prevented him from separating Wayne from his mother, ensuring scene safety, and speaking with each of them individually out of earshot of the other, free from potential intimidation, which he noted is standard practice during domestic disturbance investigations.

“I therefore physically escorted Wayne by the arm to the chair I had him sit in,” Officer Taylor said. “Wayne was uncooperative, so I gave him a verbal warning prior to leaving him with my assisting units while I spoke with [his mother] in a separate room that he needed to lower his voice and stop yelling at her when I was attempting to interview her, or he would be charged with disturbing the peace and witness intimidation.”

Officer Taylor reported that Marilyn began explaining that after police left earlier, Wayne started yelling at her when she asked him to turn his music down.

“I had to stop her mid-explanation because I could not hear much of what she was saying over the noise of Wayne directing profanity at her (namely, liberal use of the F-word) at the top of his lungs, from a separate room,” Officer Taylor said.

Officer Taylor reported that he returned to Wayne and issued a final warning that his actions were hindering his ability to conduct the investigation, specifically by preventing him from obtaining a statement from someone he believed could be a victim of domestic abuse. Officer Taylor warned that if Wayne did not stop, he would be arrested for the common law offense of interfering with a police officer.

Officer Taylor said that after another attempt to interview Wayne’s mother was disrupted by Wayne’s behavior, he placed Wayne under arrest.

“I did place Wayne under arrest (handcuffed, adjusted for proper tightness and double-locked; and searched incident to arrest), as I saw no other reasonable means of carrying on my investigation available,” Officer Taylor said. Adding, “Note that it was freezing rain and very icy outside, and I did not deem it feasible to ask [Wayne’s mother] an elderly woman in her housecoat, to step outside for me to interview her.”

Officer Taylor said that as he escorted Wayne to Officer Matthew Chagnon’s cruiser, Wayne continued to yell loudly at his mother while they were outside the apartment building. Officer Taylor said Wayne persisted despite being warned to stop because he was already facing a witness intimidation charge, being reminded of the late hour, and having the many surrounding apartment buildings pointed out to him.

“After Officer Chagnon transported Wayne to the station for booking by the OIC [Officer in Charge] Lieutenant [Juan] Ramos, I was able to return to [Wayne’s mother], who did wish to speak with police, and conduct my interview with her,” Officer Taylor said.

Officer Taylor reported that he provided Wayne’s mother with an Abused Person’s Notice of Rights form, which she signed. Wayne’s mother denied experiencing any physical abuse by Wayne and didn’t want to apply for a restraining order.

“[Wayne’s mother] believed Wayne suffered from mental health issues as well as substance abuse,” Officer Taylor explained. Officer Taylor reported that he informed her of available resources and said he would email the department’s community outreach team to request follow-up on the incident.

According to police, Wayne H. Lemieux, 52, of Leominster, was charged with the following:

  • Witness Intimidation: “Wayne, against police commands to stop, continuously yelled at [his mother], who was attempting to speak to police, and was a potential victim of domestic abuse,” Officer Taylor explained.
  • Interfere with Police Officer: “Wayne, despite multiple warnings, continuously disallowed a police investigation of a domestic disturbance by yelling so loudly at the subject of my interview, [his mother], that I could not hear her over him,” Officer Taylor said.
  • Disturbing the Peace: “Wayne, after multiple warnings, continued yelling loud enough outside of his apartment building, surrounded by several others that were in close enough proximity, that I believed he caused public inconvenience, annoyance, and/or alarm, by likely waking up neighboring residents who were inside their dwellings, in the nighttime,” Officer Taylor said.

Wayne was arraigned in Leominster District Court on Jan. 7, 2025. Following his arraignment, he was released on personal recognizance. His next court date was a pretrial hearing scheduled for Feb. 5, 2026.

Disclaimer: If you are wondering why the arrest in this story took place in January, that’s because I had to file FOIA request(s) to obtain the court documents. FOIAs are time-consuming.
