Clinton police arrest man with warrant while responding to parking lot crash

CLINTON — On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Officer Matthew Champagne and Officer Jacob Brescia of the Clinton Police Department were in the parking lot of 270 High Street dealing with a minor motor vehicle accident.

“During this incident, I took notice of James Gorham walking in the same parking lot going around to different businesses,” Officer Champagne said. “I had previous knowledge that Mr. Gorham had an active warrant for his arrest.”

According to police, James William Gorham, 57, resides in Clinton, MA.

Officer Kris Vazquez responded to the scene and confirmed through the MDT (mobile data terminal) in his cruiser that the warrant was active.

“Mr. Gorham was then advised of the warrant, explained the situation and taken into custody,” Officer Champagne said.

Gorham was handcuffed and placed in the rear of Officer Kris Vazquez’s cruiser before being transported to the Clinton Police Department where he was booked.
