RANDOLPH — On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at approximately 8:24 a.m., Randolph police were dispatched to 1 Avalon Drive following a report that a school bus driver had been assaulted.
According to Randolph Police Chief Anthony Marag, when officers arrived on scene, they observed multiple parents in the parking lot who appeared shaken and upset.
Chief Marag said a 65-year-old Fall River man employed by First Student Transportation and assigned to Canton Public Schools was assaulted by another parent, later identified as Aaron Jamahl Whitehead, 31, also of Fall River.
The investigation revealed that Whitehead stopped his vehicle in front of a school bus while it was picking up students in Canton and attempted to have his child board at a location that was not the child’s assigned stop, Chief Marag said.

The driver told the child they could not board at the unscheduled stop under company policy, and Whitehead allegedly became angry.
Whitehead then followed the bus to its next stop on Avalon Drive in Randolph. When the bus arrived at the stop and opened its doors for students to board, Whitehead entered the bus and assaulted the driver, striking him multiple times. He then took the bus driver’s cellphone and threw it before leaving the scene.
Several young children were on the bus at the time of the assault, Chief Marag said.
The bus driver was treated at the scene by Randolph Fire Department paramedics and transported to a local hospital. Chief Marag did not specify the extent of the bus driver’s injuries.
Randolph police identified Whitehead as the suspect during their investigation and obtained an arrest warrant from Quincy District Court on Wednesday. He was arrested by Randolph police Wednesday evening in Stoughton.
Aaron Jamahl Whitehead, 31, of Fall River, was charged with the following:
- Assault and Battery on a Person Over the Age of 60
- Witness Intimidation
- Malicious Destruction of Property
- Disorderly Conduct
Whitehead is expected to be arraigned on Thursday, April 30, 2026, in Quincy District Court.
“School bus drivers perform an important job every day transporting children safely to and from school, and this type of violence will not be tolerated,” Chief Marag said. “We wish the driver a full and speedy recovery, and I want to thank the Canton Police Department and the Stoughton Police Department for their assistance during this investigation and arrest.”
