EAST BRIDGEWATER — On Sunday, June 21, 2026, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the East Bridgewater Fire Department received a report of a fire on the porch of a residence at 90 Pleasant Avenue.
According to East Bridgewater Fire Chief John Dzialo, Engine 1 was first to arrive on scene and its crew members found heavy fire on the porch that had extended into the home.
“Firefighters immediately launched an aggressive attack on the fire while calling for mutual aid assistance,” Chief Dzialo said.
Two residents and a dog escaped the home safely. Chief Dzialo said working smoke alarms alerted the occupants and allowed them to evacuate before firefighters arrived on scene.
Firefighters from Bridgewater, West Bridgewater, Whitman, and Abington responded to the scene. Hanson firefighters provided station coverage. Off-duty East Bridgewater firefighters also responded to the scene to assist.
“Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and prevent further extension into the home,” Chief Dzialo said. “Crews remained on scene conducting overhaul and checking for hidden pockets of fire before ultimately clearing the scene around 3:00 a.m.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the East Bridgewater Fire Department.
