GROTON — On Saturday, July 4, 2026, at approximately 8:34 a.m., the Groton fire and police departments responded to a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle in the area of Old Ayer Road and Boston Road (Route 119).
According to Groton Fire Chief Arthur Cheeks, the driver of the motorcycle, a man in his 40s, sustained significant injuries to his lower-body.
“Due to the severity of his injuries, an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance from the Ayer Fire Department and a medical helicopter were requested,” Chief Cheeks said. Adding, “The man was transported by ambulance to a landing zone at the fire station on Farmers Row, then flown by UMass Memorial LifeFlight to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester for treatment.”
Chief Cheeks said the driver of the passenger vehicle reported no injuries.
The Groton Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
