DUDLEY โ On Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, Dudley Police Officer Byron Lara was conducting routine patrols near Schofield Avenue and Brandon Road when Webster Police Officer Brian Blomgren informed him that he had observed a small, dark-blue sedan traveling at a high rate of speed from Hill Street in Webster, across the bridge and onto Chase Avenue in Dudley.

Officer Blomgren informed Officer Lara that he ran the vehicleโs registration through the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) database using the mobile data terminal in his cruiser. The query identified the vehicle as a black 2014 Mercedes-Benz C300 with Massachusetts license plates.
โOfficer Blomgren advised that the vehicle he observed was not a black 2014 Mercedes C300,โ Officer Lara said. โOfficer Blomgren further advised that he lost sight of the vehicle in the area of Chase Avenue.โ
Officer Lara said he then searched the surrounding area for the vehicle.
โWhile checking the area of Schofield Avenue and Brandon Road, I observed two vehicles parked in the lot of the Pearle L. Crawford Memorial Library, located at 40 Schofield Avenue,โ Officer Lara said. โOne of the vehicles was a small, dark-blue sedan matching the description provided by Officer Blomgren. It should be noted that the library was closed at the time.โ
Officer Lara said he entered the library parking lot from Brandon Road.
At around this time, Officers Dylan Reney and Jeffrey Forcier also arrived on scene to assist.
โAs I approached the vehicles in my marked cruiser, I observed two female parties standing between the vehicles and a third female party standing near the rear of the vehicles,โ Officer Lara said. โI observed that the license plate on the dark-blue sedan was partially obstructed by a blanket being worn by a female party, later identified as Madison Mirles.โ
According to police, Madison I. Mirles, 25, is a resident of Webster, MA.
โI was able to observe that the final two digits of the registration were โ17,โ consistent with the final two digits of the registration provided by Officer Blomgren,โ Officer Lara said. โMirles immediately became verbally aggressive after being asked to move the blanket obstructing the vehicle’s license plate.โ
Officer Lara said Mirles threw the blanket to the ground and began yelling insults at the officers on scene.
โI advised Mirles that officers were investigating information regarding a vehicle matching the description of her vehicle that was possibly displaying a registration belonging to another vehicle,โ Officer Lara said. โDespite being advised of the reason for the officers’ presence, Mirles continued yelling insults and acting in an aggressive and confrontational manner toward officers.โ
Officer Lara said Mirles and the other two women with her were advised that the library was closed and asked what they were doing in the parking lot.
โMirles continued yelling at officers and refused to cease her disruptive behavior,โ Officer Lara said. โMirles repeatedly yelled insults at officers and interfered with officers’ attempts to identify the parties and investigate the circumstances surrounding their presence on the library property.โ
According to Officer Lara, while police were attempting to identify the two other women at the scene, Mirles walked between the vehicles and entered the area where the officers were speaking with the other parties.
โMirles hugged [one of the women] and attempted to pull her away from officers while repeatedly requesting that officers leave them alone,โ Officer Lara said. โMirles continued to yell and behave in an aggressive and disorderly manner despite officers’ repeated attempts to de-escalate the situation.โ
Officer Lara said Mirlesโ โyelling and disruptive behaviorโ caused such a disturbance that the occupants of a residence across the street turned on their lights and were observed looking out their windows toward the parking lot.
Officer Lara said he continued attempting to de-escalate the situation and obtain Mirlesโ identifying information, but she continued yelling, behaving aggressively toward officers and causing a disturbance.
โMirles then began attempting to walk away from the vehicles while officers were attempting to address the situation,โ Officer Lara said. โDue to Mirles’ continued aggressive, disorderly, and disruptive behavior, and her refusal to comply with officers’ directions, Mirles was placed under arrest and secured in the prisoner compartment of marked cruiser #509.โ
Officer Lara said that once Mirles was secured in the prison compartment of the cruiser, she continued yelling and acting aggressively.
At around this time, Officer Lara said one of the other women on scene then began yelling at police, demanding that Mirles be released.
โ[The woman] then threw herself onto the ground and refused to provide her name or identifying information,โ Officer Lara said. According to Officer Lara, the third woman at the scene subsequently provided identifying information for everyone involved, which officers relayed to dispatch.
โ[The third woman] stated that the three had just left a gathering and were dropping off a friend on Brandon Road,โ Officer Lara said. He added that prior to leaving the scene, the second woman was turned over to a friend who was sober and of legal age.
The vehicles occupied by all three women were then secured and left in the libraryโs parking lot.
Mirles was then transported to the Dudley Police Department for booking.
โDuring the booking process, Mirles continued to display aggressive behavior toward officers and refused to comply with officers’ commands or participate in the booking process,โ Officer Lara said. Later adding, โDuring the booking process, Mirles leaned over the table and spit in my direction. The saliva made contact with my outer carrier and my left arm/hand.โ
Officer Lara said he and Officer Reney removed Mirles from the booking table and placed her in a holding cell.
โWhile escorting Mirles to the cell, she began kicking backward in my direction,โ Officer Lara said.
Officer Lara said Mirles, who was wearing white sneakers with thick soles, struck him approximately four times in the right leg with her foot.
โI felt each strike as it made contact with my right leg,โ Officer Lara said. โDue to Mirles’ continued aggressive behavior and her actions toward officers, she was not fingerprinted, and a telephone call was not feasible at that time.โ
Mirlesโ bail was set at $1,000.
โMirles was subsequently removed from the cell and transported to the Webster Police Department for holding,โ Officer Lara said.
Madison I. Mirles, 25, of Webster, was charged with the following:
- Assault & Battery on Police Officer (two counts)
- Disorderly Conduct
- Disturbing the Peace
Mirles was arraigned in Dudley District Court on Sept. 3, 2026.
Her next court date is a pretrial hearing scheduled for Oct. 23, 2026.
