Burlington firefighters respond to kitchen fire at restaurant on Cambridge Street

BURLINGTON — On Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026, at approximately 4:20 p.m., Burlington firefighters responded to a kitchen fire at a restaurant on Cambridge Street.

According to the Burlington Fire Department, the restaurant’s alarm monitoring company initially reported the fire, followed by a 911 call. The department did not identify the business in its statement.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they observed a stove fire with the kitchen’s Ansul hood suppression system activated. The fire had spread beyond the hood area, activating two nearby sprinkler systems, the Burlington Fire Department reported.

No injuries were reported. The restaurant sustained smoke and water damage and was closed for cleaning while systems were repaired or replaced, the Burlington Fire Department said.

“I want to acknowledge the quick response of our crews, who were able to assist and keep this to a working fire,” Burlington Fire Chief James Browne said. “Working and up-to-date sprinkler systems, including regular hood cleaning done by trained professionals, are vital in situations involving stoves and kitchen fires, as they work to contain the fire prior to our arrival.”

The Burlington Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
