CRANSTON, R.I. — A 61-year-old Leominster man was killed in a crash that took place in Cranston Monday night.
According to Cranston police, at about 8:49 p.m. on June 19, two white work vans collided head-on in the area of 2150 Scituate Avenue.
One of the vehicles, a 2015 Ford Transit Van owned by Life Supply Corporation of Ludlow, was transporting 44 compressed oxygen cylinders for healthcare purposes.
The driver of the Ludlow-based company’s healthcare van, Garrison Gonzalez, 61, of Leominster, was transported to RI Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Gonzalez’s passenger and the driver of the other vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Three 100-pound oxygen cylinders were leaking following the crash and needed to be removed from Life Supply Corporation’s van in order to prevent an explosion, police said.
Police say there is no evidence of driver impairment.
The crash remains under investigation.
