SHIRLEY — Gallery Sitka on Shaker Road will be hosting an exhibition inspired by the work of the renown French Impressionist painter Claude Monet.
By Rux Darie, the exhibition, called “A Contemporary Ode to Monet” pays homage to Monet and his ethereal landscapes.
The exhibition runs from November 17 through December 7. A reception, with free admission, will take place when the exhibit opens on Nov. 17 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. and Gallery Sitka on 2 Shaker Rd., D101 in Shirley.
Darie is a Romanian-Dutch artist who works and resides in Massachusetts.
“Monet’s ability to capture the essence of a scene with fleeting, dappled strokes has always fascinated me,” Darie said. “His play with light and color transcends the representational, inviting viewers into an immersive experience of nature’s ever-changing moods. In my work, I take Monet’s legacy as a departure point. Drawing inspiration from his evocative style, I am interested in a reinterpretation through abstraction.”
In recent years, Darie’s artistic style has shifted from representational to abstract art. Darie graduated from Academy of Fine Arts in Arendonk, Belgium. Her work has been exhibited in The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Romania, Hungary, Canada, and the U.S.
