Darie is a Romanian-Dutch artist who works and resides in Massachusetts.

“Monet’s ability to capture the essence of a scene with fleeting, dappled strokes has always fascinated me,” Darie said. “His play with light and color transcends the representational, inviting viewers into an immersive experience of nature’s ever-changing moods. In my work, I take Monet’s legacy as a departure point. Drawing inspiration from his evocative style, I am interested in a reinterpretation through abstraction.”

In recent years, Darie’s artistic style has shifted from representational to abstract art. Darie graduated from Academy of Fine Arts in Arendonk, Belgium. Her work has been exhibited in The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Romania, Hungary, Canada, and the U.S.

Gallery Sitka is a woman-owned organization with art galleries in Newport, RI, Shirley, MA, Saratoga, NY (by appointment), and additional periodic pop-ups around the Northeast.
