MAYNARD — The Town of Maynard is seeking public comments on a new consumer-friendly group electricity purchasing program for residents and businesses.
Named Maynard Power Choice, the program aims to leverage the town’s collective buying power to provide greater control over the cost and environmental impact of the electricity purchased by the community.
Eversource will continue to deliver electricity and handle billing without interruption. Although Maynard Power Choice cannot guarantee lower prices compared to Eversource’s Basic Service rates, the Town is committed to providing competitive and stable pricing, said a statement issued from the office of Maynard’s Town Administrator Greg Johnson.
Before launching the program, the town must create an Aggregation Plan and submit it for state regulatory review and approval. An overview of the draft Maynard Power Choice Aggregation Plan was presented at the Select Board meeting on June 4.
To involve the public in the program’s development, the town is making the draft Aggregation Plan and related documents available for review and comment prior to the regulatory review process. The draft aggregation documents for Maynard Power Choice will be open for public review and comment from June 4 to July 8.

Interested individuals can download the documents here, on the town’s website, and/or obtain hard copies from the Town Clerk’s office at Maynard Town Hall.
Written comments can be submitted via email to maynardpowerchoice@townofmaynard.net or by U.S. Mail to: Sustainability Committee, Maynard Town Hall, 195 Main Street, Maynard, MA 01754. (Town officials say snail mailed comments must be received by the end of the comment period to be considered).
