Maynard Fire Department extinguishes fire at house that caught fire the day before

MAYNARD — The Maynard Fire Department put out a fire Wednesday at a residence on Little Road that caught fire the day before.

According to Maynard’s Fire Chief Angela Lawless, on Wednesday, June 5, at approximately 11:59 p.m., the Maynard Fire Department was dispatched to 1 Little Road following several reports of a house fire.

When crews arrived on scene, they were met with heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the residence.

“Firefighters began an aggressive transitional attack, and the fire was knocked down around 12:36 p.m.,” Chief Lawless said in the statement.

No one was home at the time of the fire.

The day before, Tuesday, June 4, at approximately 12:25 a.m., the Maynard Fire Department was dispatched to the same residence where heavy smoke and flames had overtaken the side windows of the residence. Three residents were home at the time of the fire Tuesday. Fire fighters also rescued a puppy from the blaze.

One firefighter who responded to the fire Wednesday was hospitalized for heat exhaustion but has since been released. No other injuries were reported. The following area fire departments assisted Maynard’s fire crews at the scene Wednesday: Acton, Concord, Sudbury, Stow, and Carlisle. Station coverage was handled by the Lincoln and Boxborough fire departments.

The cause of Wednesday night’s fire remains under investigation by Maynard Fire Department, Maynard Police Department, and State Police assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s office.
