BROOKLINE — The Town of Brookline has announced the launch of the new “Housing Case Inquiry (HCI) Portal” within its Housing Stability Office.
The new HCI Portal, which is online, is designed to link residents dealing with housing issues to supportive resources. Whether it’s a housing discrimination/infrastructure concern or request for rental assistance (via a program), requests submitted through the portal will be expedited by the Housing Stability Office team, which is prepared to help residents connect with the appropriate municipal department or external community resource.
The portal directs inquiries to the most suitable town department, which will respond within three business days. Although the town does not offer direct rental assistance or protection against foreclosure/eviction, its departments will thoroughly investigate all possible solutions to achieve a favorable or improved result within the limits of existing resources.
“The creation of the Housing Stability Office reflects the Town’s commitment to addressing the housing pressures faced by our residents,” said Brookline’s Town Administrator Chas Carey. “This new resource is a critical step in facilitating access to the housing support systems already available in our community. We understand navigating these resources can be confusing, and we want to ensure all residents feel empowered to seek the help they need.”
This launch signifies the conclusion of Phase 2 in the Housing Stability Office’s three-phase strategy to address housing challenges in Brookline. Phase 1 centralized the existing resources on the Town’s website. The upcoming Phase 3, planned for the next fall and winter, will concentrate on utilizing funds from the Community Preservation Act and other sources to effectively target and bridge gaps within the current social services network related to housing.
