SUTTON — A four year old autistic girl named Eva was found unresponsive in her neighbor’s pool in Sutton.
According to a statement from the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, the Sutton Police Department received a 911 call reporting that Eva had gone missing from her home at about 3:50 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2024.
At about 5 p.m. Thursday, the Sutton Police Department announced on Facebook that they were searching for Eva in the Peachtree Drive area.

“There’s a heavy police and fire presence as we search for this young girl,” Sutton police said in their post. “If you see her, please call 9-1-1 to alert us.”
At 7 p.m. Thursday, the Sutton Police Department announced on Facebook that Eva was no longer a missing person: “We no longer are asking for assistance regarding the missing girl we posted. Thank you to all who shared, looked and offered info.”
The exact time it took to locate Eva was not specified by the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
When she was located, Eva was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester where she was pronounced deceased.
On Friday morning, the Sutton Police Department offered its condolences to Eva’s family on Facebook, adding that the department will not be doing any interviews with the press out of respect for the family.
“The past 12 hours have been incredibly difficult for one of our families in town and our team of first responders,” the Sutton Police Department said. “There are no words that we can offer to help ease the heartache our residents are feeling now. We are so incredibly sorry. We will not be speaking to the press, nor doing any on camera interviews out of respect for our family in town.”
