Gloucester family displaced after fire engulfs Holly Street home

GLOUCESTER — A family in Gloucester was displaced today after a fire overtook their home.

According to a statement from Fire Chief Eric Smith, on Friday, Aug. 16, at approximately 3:29 p.m., the Gloucester Fire Department was dispatched to 57 Holly Street following a report of a structure fire. 

When firefighters arrived on scene, they were met with fire showing from a window of the residence and consequently stretched a hose line into the home where the fire was knocked out by about 3:45 p.m.

No one was injured in the fire. The family that resided in the home has been displaced.

Firefighters from Rockport provided coverage at Gloucester stations while crews fought the fire, with Beauport Ambulance on standby in the area. The Rehab 5 truck was also on-site to offer support.

The Gloucester Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
