HUDSON — Three juveniles were arrested early Saturday morning after a vehicle crashed into the front entrance of DAB Smoke Shop in Hudson during an apparent smash-and-grab break-in.
Hudson’s Police Chief Richard DiPersio reported that officers responded to a burglar alarm at the smoke shop, located at 234 Washington Street, at approximately 3:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that the store’s front entrance had been smashed, likely by a vehicle that had backed into the storefront.
The suspects had fled the scene by the time officers arrived. Hudson police notified nearby police departments to be on the lookout for a vehicle with damage consistent with backing through a storefront.
Shortly thereafter, a Marlborough police officer spotted a vehicle with visible damage matching the description. The vehicle was stopped by the Marlborough officer and a Massachusetts state trooper in the area.
Following an investigation, three juveniles were arrested: a 15-year-old male from Boston, a 16-year-old male from Quincy, and a 17-year-old male from Danvers. Police recovered merchandise allegedly stolen from the DAB Smoke Shop inside the vehicle.
The vehicle was impounded, and two of the suspects were held on bail. The third suspect was released to their legal guardians. All three will be arraigned in Framingham Juvenile Court in the coming days.
