GARDNER — The search for Aaron Pennington, the man accused of killing his wife nearly a year ago, resumed Monday as Massachusetts State Police used drones to scour the wooded area off Kelton Street in Gardner for any trace of the fugitive.

Despite extensive search efforts, Pennington, 33, has remained elusive since October 22, 2023, when he allegedly shot his wife, Breanne, in their Cherry Street home. Although some believe he may have taken his own life, authorities have found no evidence to confirm this theory, and his whereabouts remain a mystery even after Monday’s renewed search efforts.

Pennington’s vehicle was discovered the day after the murder by a hunter, approximately 1,500 yards off Kelton Street near the wooded area of Camp Collier, close to the Ashburnham-Gardner line. This prompted an hours-long shelter-in-place order for local residents as police searched cars, backyards, and the surrounding forest.

Since then, the search has included ground patrols, aerial drones, and even a dive team to search nearby Lake Wampanoag. Pennington, a U.S. Air Force veteran, has managed to elude capture despite these extensive efforts.

Pennington is described as a white male, 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing around 175 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes. Law enforcement continues to urge the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings or information that may assist in the investigation.
