“Upon my arrival to Canal Lane, a female party later identified as [name redacted] was in the street and waving me down,” Officer Fusco said. “I asked if she had called [the police] and she stated yes. I asked where the suspect went and she said he left. She brought me to the apartment and said her son had been hurt bad.”

When Officer Fusco entered the woman’s apartment, he made contact with the woman’s juvenile son who lifted his shirt and showed the officer a “puncture mark” on his torso.

“I would note that his shirt appeared to be saturated and wet,” Officer Fusco added.

Officer Fusco asked the juvenile what happened and if he knew the man who broke into the apartment and he said that he did know who he was but was unsure of his real name.

At this time, Officer Fusco reported that other responding units radioed in to say they had detained an individual matching the description on Temple Street. Somerville Fire Department arrived shortly thereafter to provide medical assistance to the juvenile in the apartment who had been stabbed.

“Once it was determined [the juvenile] was stable I was able to get a full accounting from him,” Officer Fusco said. “He stated the suspect, who was later identified as Mr. Rydjoechy Saturne, had broken into the apartment using a pair of shears that he had with him and also forced the door. Later it was found the door had significant damage to it. [The juvenile] stated that he had owed Mr. Saturne $160 that he had borrowed, but that his mother had given Mr. Saturne $300 ‘the other day.’”

According to police Rydjoechy Saturne, 24, is a resident of 100 Fellsway W, Apt. 303, Somerville, MA.

The juvenile told Officer Fusco that he heard banging at the door and then the door opened. He then came out of his bedroom and observed Saturne searching through the apartment. Saturne then allegedly attacked the juvenile and yelled about the money he owed him while punching him.

“[The juvenile] tried explaining that he didn’t owe it anymore and then Mr. Saturne stabbed him with the shears and left the apartment, leaving the shears behind,” Officer Fusco said. “[The juvenile] stated Mr. Saturne stole his cell phone as well. He stated it was an iPhone, but was unsure of the model. The iPhone was found in the possession of Mr. Saturne, identified as the lock screen background is a photo of [the juvenile].”

The juvenile identified the suspect as Saturne via a show up. (A “show-up” is a police procedure where a suspect is presented individually to a witness shortly after a crime has occurred to determine if they recognize the suspect as the person involved.)

The juvenile was transported to Mass General Hospital by Cataldo Ambulance.

Saturne was booked on charges of home invasion and assault with a dangerous weapon. Police also discovered an open warrant against Saturne from the Medford Police Department for armed robbery, assault, and conspiracy charges.
