Ayer woman with suspended license fails to stop for police, is released, then rearrested two days later for driving and missing court

AYER โ€” On Sunday, December 29, 2024, at approximately 1:21 a.m., Officer Timothy Ialeggio of the Ayer Police Department was parked in his cruiser on W Main Street near Woo Jung Restaurant observing traffic when he spotted a 2011 white Ford Fusion with Massachusetts plates heading eastbound.

โ€œI was sitting perpendicular to the roadway, my headlights were shining across the road making it possible to see into passing vehicles,โ€ Officer Ialeggio said. โ€œI observed a white Ford Fusion bearing MA [registration redacted] approaching my location traveling eastbound on W Main Street. As the vehicle passed my location, I entered the registration into my MDT [mobile data terminal]. The query showed an expired inspection status as of 11/30/2024. I was also able to see the female operator and sole occupant of the vehicle as it passed my location whom I recognized as Kaysandra Lebron. I have prior knowledge that Kaysandraโ€™s license is suspended.โ€

According to police, Kaysandra Lebron, 23, is a resident of 41 W Main Street, Ayer, MA.

Officer Ialeggio pulled out behind Lebronโ€™s Ford Fusion and activated his blue emergency lights in an attempt to pull her over in the area of W Main Street and Rogers Street.

โ€œThe Fusion did not immediately respond to my blue lights and continued to travel at 30 mph inbound,โ€ Officer Ialeggio said. โ€œI then began to use my air horn and siren to get the attention of the operator. The vehicle began to slow down before letting off the brakes and continuing to drive. I could see the female operator moving around inside the vehicle. I could see her intermittently looking at me through her driverside mirror while continuing to not stop for police. We passed the intersection of W Main and Union Street still headed inbound at 30 mph. At this point, I drew the conclusion the female operator was intentionally failing to stop for police as she was trying to make it to her residence located at 41 W Main Street.โ€

Officer Ialeggio reported that Lebron maintained a speed of about 30 mph, eventually slowed down, signaled, and turned left into 41 W Main Street.

โ€œKaysandra drove all the way through the apartment complex, around the back, and pulled into her normal parking spot,โ€ Officer Ialeggio said. โ€œI notified dispatch of my location. Officer [Jacquelyn] Stiles arrived on scene moments later. I approached the driverside door as Kaysandra was trying to roll the window up before I got there. I could see a metal bat in the front passenger area with the handle in reach of Kaysandra.”

Officer Ialeggio attempted to open a door on Lebron’s vehicle, but found it was locked.

“I reached through the glass, unlocked the door, and opened it,” Officer Ialeggio said. “Kaysandra was removed from the vehicle immediately. Kaysandra kept trying to pull her arm away from me as I was attempting to put her in cuffs saying I didnโ€™t know who she was.”

Once Lebron was in handcuffs, she was searched by Officer Stiles and placed in the rear passenger seat of a police cruiser.

“Kaysandra stated she did not stop for approximately ยฝ a mile because she was trying to โ€˜find somewhere to pull over,โ€™” Officer Ialeggio recounted. “We passed zero cars from Woo Jung to when we pulled into 41 W Main Street.”

Officer Ialeggio said that Lebron then began kicking the glass partition between the front and back seats in the cruiser “as hard as she could” while screaming for her boyfriend Levon [last name redacted].

“Kaysandra began screaming the handcuffs were so tight โ€˜she could not feel her wrists,โ€™” Officer Ialeggio said. “Officer Stiles and I both checked the tightness of the cuffs and determined they were applied appropriately.”

Officer Ialeggio said he then returned to Lebron’s vehicle to see why she was moving around in it surreptitiously prior to arrest.

“I searched the area of the vehicle accessible to the driver with negative findings,” Officer Ialeggio said.

Lebron was transported to the Ayer Police Department for booking.

Once they were at the station, Officer Ialeggio said that dispatch confirmed Lebronโ€™s license was suspended.

Lebron was issued an arrest citation for the following offenses:

  1. Stop for Police, Fail
  2. Operating Motor Vehicle with License Suspended
  3. No Inspection Sticker

Lebron was bailed on personal recognizance (that means the bail was set at $0.00) at 3:15 a.m. and released to the front lobby of the Ayer Police Station. The conditions of her release were that she not drive and appear in Ayer District Court for her arraignment on Dec. 30, 2024 at 8:30 a.m.

Officer Ialeggio said that on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at approximately 8:30 a.m., he was monitoring traffic from a parked, marked cruiser on Main Street, when he observed a white Ford Fusion driving eastbound from Main Street onto E Main Street.

โ€œI recognized the operator as Kaysandra Lebron who I know to possess a suspended driverโ€™s license. A query of Kaysandra using the MDT was completed, which showed a suspended license status,” Officer Ialeggio said. Later adding, “A query of the white Ford Fusion showed no inspection since 11/30/2024.”

The query also revealed an active arrest warrant for Lebron, issued on December 30, 2024, by the Ayer District Court.

Officer Ialeggio said he located Lebron in the Ayer Public Libraryโ€™s parking lot on E Main Street. Lebron was taken into custody without incident, handcuffed, searched for weapons, and transported to the Ayer Police Department, where she was booked on the following charges:

  1. Operating Motor Vehicle with License Suspended (Subsequent Offense)
  2. No Inspection Sticker
  3. Warrant Arrest

After Lebron was booked, she was transported to Ayer District Court for her arraignment.
