Oxford man arrested for threatening patron with knife at package store

OXFORD — On Friday, January 31, 2025, Oxford police officers were dispatched to the Oxford Package Store, located at 331 Main Street, following a report of an individual threatening patrons with a knife.

According to a statement from the Oxford Police Department, when officers arrived on scene, they were directed by witnesses to a suspect, who was later identified as Colin Kortze.

According to the victim, the incident began when he was approached by Kortze immediately after he exited his vehicle to enter the store, the Oxford Police Department said in its statement.

A loud verbal exchange ensued, during which a third individual arrived at the location. At that point, it was alleged that Kortze brandished a knife and verbally threatened the third party.

Kortze was taken into custody at the scene and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.

Kortze was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to be arraigned in Dudley District Court on Monday morning, according to Oxford police.
