WORCESTER — A routine trash pickup turned chaotic on the morning of February 21, 2025, when Worcester police officers were called to the Crompton Street area following a report of an assault involving a firearm.
According to police, two city sanitation workers were picking up trash on the street, when the trash bag ended up touching a vehicle as they attempted to load it into the truck. The vehicle’s owner, later identified as 32-year-old Juan Montalvo, allegedly began shouting at the workers and threatened to kill them while holding a gun by his side.
Shortly thereafter, officers located Montalvo as he attempted to leave his apartment nearby and placed him under arrest for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Firearm).
After securing a search warrant later that day, officers executed it at Montalvo’s apartment around 4:30 p.m. Inside the apartment, they discovered a substance believed to be fentanyl. As a result, Montalvo faces an additional charge of Possession of Fentanyl with Intent to Distribute.
