According to Officer Grady, the 911 caller โ who was later identified as Jennifer Arevalo โ said “Iโve been stabbed, you stabbed me,” and hung up the phone.
โDispatch attempted to call back several times to no avail,โ Officer Grady said. โOn the third redial, Jennifer answered the phone, stating she was not injured but her friend was bleeding from his hand. There was a lot of yelling in the background from a male party. At that time, Clinton police and the Clinton Fire Department were dispatched to the scene.โ

According to police, Jennifer N. Arevalo, 20, is a resident of 72 Grove Street, Clinton, MA.
โA short time later, I pulled onto Grove Street,โ Officer Grady explained. โAs I got closer to the residence, I saw an individual walking away from the residence in my direction. I pulled up to the individual and put my overhead takedown lights on him due to the darkness of the street.โ
According to Officer Grady, as soon as his takedown lights went on, the individual turned his body around completely, hiding his hands in front of him and began walking in the opposite direction back towards the residence.
โDue to the nature of the call and the individualโs sudden and suspicious behaviors, I exited my cruiser and drew my duty pistol,โ Officer Grady said. โI announced myself and began giving directives.โ
Officer Grady said the individual, later identified as 22-year-old Conor [last name redacted], complied with all his directives.
โAs he turned around, I noticed that he had blood all over his clothes, and also had blood dripping from his left hand,โ Officer Grady said. โI asked Conor what was going on and why he had blood on him. Conor stated he was stabbed in his hand. I then instructed Conor to take the paper towels he had and to apply pressure to his left hand, and to take a seat on the ground until the ambulance arrives. The laceration was on the palm of his left hand. It was several inches long and appeared to be very deep and was very consistent with that of a large knife.โ

At this time, Officer Michael Frick and Detective Christopher Cornelius arrived on scene to assist.
โAs we spoke with Conor, it was determined that he was the victim in this case,โ Officer Grady said. โHe stated he was hanging out at his friend Jenniferโs house, but doesnโt remember how he sustained his injuries. He remembered seeing Jennifer with the knife, but does not know how it all happened.โ
As the ambulance pulled up and Conor began receiving medical treatment, Detective Cornelius and Officer Grady went to Areveloโs apartment to speak with her.
โShe was standing in the doorway awaiting our arrival,โ Officer Grady said. โI immediately took note of the blood located on her clothing and her skin. The blood appeared to be smeared across her skin, but I did not see any injuries or bleeding. I asked Jennifer if she had any injuries as was indicated in her initial 9-1-1 call. She stated that she did not, but Conor did on his hand. I asked Jennifer where this happened, and where the knife was. She stated it happened in her bedroom, and she invited us in to take a look around.โ
The officers entered Arevaloโs one-floor apartment and she showed them to her bedroom.
โI entered her bedroom and immediately saw blood all across the floor, the walls and on her bed,โ Officer Grady said. โThe knife that was used was still on Jenniferโs bed, with blood all over it.โ
Officer Grady described the knife as a large stainless steel kitchen knife with a sharp edge on one side.
โJennifer went on to explain that she had her friend Conor over to hang out,โ Officer Grady recounted. โThey were having some drinks and watching TV, but it got to the point where she asked him to leave. Conor was not listening to her requests, so she continued asking him to leave. At some point, unsure if he would ever leave, Jennifer left her bedroom and went into the kitchen to get the knife. They continued arguing as she asked him several times to leave. Her story becomes vague at this point, as she does not remember how he sustained the laceration on his hand. At no point did Jennifer state that she felt threatened in any way during their argument, nor did Conor make any threats towards her.โ
Officer Grady then met with Officer Frick who had been speaking with Conor in the back of the ambulance.
โHe reiterated what Conor had previously told me, that he does not remember how it happened,โ Officer Grady said. โAt that time, based on the statements provided by both parties, the circumstances of the events that took place, and the clear reckless actions taken by Jennifer, she was placed under arrest.โ
Arevalo was handcuffed behind her back and placed in the backseat of Detective Corneliusโ cruiser.
โI read Jennifer her Miranda rights from a card that I carry on my person, and she was subsequently transported to the Clinton Police Station for booking,โ Officer Grady said. โDuring booking, she was afforded all rights given to one held in custody, including Miranda and a phone call. The bail commissioner released her from our custody shortly after.โ
Conor was transported to UMass Clinton Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
Arevalo was charged with:
- Assault & Battery with Dangerous Weapon (kitchen knife)
