Winchendon man arrested for smashing ex’s car window during argument at YMCA

WINCHENDON — On Monday, February 3, 2025, a woman called 911 from the basketball court at the YMCA on Summer Drive, reporting that her ex-boyfriend, Justin Baker, had just smashed her car window.

Winchendon Police Officers Raymond Anair, Dylan Mei, and Daniel Caputi responded to the call.

“Upon arrival, I met with [the 911 caller],” Officer Anair said. “She was crying hysterically.”

Officer Anair said the driver’s side front window of the driver’s door of the vehicle she was in, a 2003 Honda Accord, had been smashed.

“Glass was all over her and inside the car,” Officer Anair said. “She said that Justin Baker, the father of her child, had come to help with a broken exhaust on her car. She said that he was drunk, and they started arguing over the car. She said that he broke the window of the car, which was registered to her aunt. She said that he left and was walking down Beech Street towards Spring. Officers Caputi and Mei began looking for him.”

“[The woman] got out of the car and cleaned the glass off of her,” Officer Anair said. “She had a small drop of blood on her hand (unknown if it was her blood or Justin’s). She said that she was not injured. I asked if Justin assaulted her or threatened her and she said no. Because of their previous relationship and having a child in common, I advised her of her 209a [abuse prevention order] rights.”

Officer Anair added, “I offered [her] a ride to her grandmother’s several times and she declined. Since the car belonged to her aunt, I had her call her aunt, [name redacted] to see if she wanted charges pressed. [Her aunt] later called and confirmed that she wanted charges pressed.”

“I also spoke to Izayah [last name redacted] who was also attempting to help Autumn and Justin with the broken exhaust,” Officer Anair said. “He said that they were arguing and then he heard the glass break.”

Officer Anair said that Officers Caputi and Mei later located Baker at the intersection of Beech and Walnut Street.

According to police, Justin Michael Baker, 40, is a resident of 191 Mill Street, Apt. 3, Winchendon, MA.

“He had fresh bloody cuts on his right hand,” Officer Anair said. “Based on the statement of [the woman] and the fresh cuts, there was probable cause to believe that Justin had punched out the window in the car owned by [the woman’s aunt] and operated by [his ex]. Justin was taken into custody and brought to the station for booking.”

Officer Anair added, “During booking and after being advised of his Miranda rights and without being questioned about it, Justin did admit to punching out the window in the car. He refused medical attention for the cuts.”

Baker was charged with:

  • Vandalize Property

He was released on $200 bail.

Baker was arraigned in Winchendon District Court on February 4, 2025.
