“I know the owner of the vehicle to have an active warrant so I pulled behind the vehicle, and while behind the vehicle, it accelerated to a speed of 55 mph while in a 40-mph zone,” Officer Favreau said. “I initiated a motor vehicle stop at 410 School Street and identified the operator as David Piper using his Massachusetts license who was the only occupant in the vehicle.”

According to police, David R. Piper, 31, is a resident of 156 School Street, Apt. 3, Winchendon, MA.

“Winchendon dispatch confirmed an active warrant for David Piper so I called for an additional unit,” Officer Favreau said. “Officer Dylan Mei arrived and we both ordered David out of the vehicle and placed him into custody. I searched David incident to arrest and removed a knife and small blow torch from his person and secured him in the back of [marked patrol car] W8. I informed him the vehicle was being towed and transported him back to Winchendon Police Headquarters for booking.”
Officer Favreau stated that during a motor vehicle inventory search, Officer Mei and Officer Daniel Caputi found a plastic bag containing a white substance suspected to be cocaine in Piper’s vehicle. After searching the vehicle, the officers returned to the Winchendon Police Department.
“Officer Mei weighed the substance which measured at 15 grams,” Officer Favreau said. “Detective [Caleb] Similia tested the substance with a ‘Nark Cocaine ID Swipe’ test kit and it returned a positive result for cocaine. Officer Mei indicated he located the bag in between the center console area and the front passenger seat. Sergeant [Raymond] Anair informed David that drugs were found in the vehicle and he denied any knowledge of it.”
Officer Favreau read Piper his Miranda rights from a card he carries on his person.
“David was booked and afforded a phone call and all other applicable rights, then placed into cell number 3,” Officer Favreau said. “In addition to having a warrant for destruction of property, David Piper is charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drug.”
Piper’s arraignment was scheduled to take place in Winchendon District Court on February 12, 2025.
