Arborist rescues turkey trapped 30 feet up in tree in Brewster

BREWSTER — On Thursday, Brewster Animal Control responded to an unusual call about a turkey stuck in a tree, according to a post on its Facebook page. While turkeys commonly roost in trees, this one was reported to be hanging upside down, unable to free itself.

Upon arrival, members of Brewster Animal Control found the bird trapped about 30 feet up, with one of its legs caught in a branch. After unsuccessful attempts to locate a ladder tall enough to reach the turkey safely, they contacted Chris Lombardi, a certified arborist, for assistance.

A certified arborist wearing a helmet and safety harness is perched on a tree branch while using a net to rescue a turkey that is tangled in the branches. The turkey appears upside down, caught in the tree, as the arborist carefully lowers it. The surrounding tree branches are bare against a cloudy sky.
