News Details: Auburn police officer arrested in child predator sting after allegedly offering $200 to 15-year-old decoy

GREAT BARRINGTON — Auburn police officer Dominick Boschetto, 31, of Brookfield, was arrested Monday, April 14, 2025, at the Auburn Police Department following a two-week undercover operation in Berkshire County targeting alleged child predators. He was arraigned in Southern Berkshire District Court the following day and released on $5,000 bail.

According to court documents, Boschetto allegedly contacted a number posted by law enforcement on an online ad for sex two hours after his police shift ended on April 12. During the call, he allegedly agreed to pay $150 for “full service” sex and $50 more for anal sex, after being told the individual was a 15-year-old girl. He is charged with child enticement and attempting sexual conduct for a fee with a child.

In a statement of facts filed by police, Boschetto is accused of texting the undercover officer from two different numbers, one registered to him and another untraceable. Police say he acknowledged the girl’s age in messages, expressed hesitation, but also asked for revealing photos and discussed possibly paying for pictures before her 16th birthday. “Maybe when you get older? Unless you can convince me with something,” he allegedly wrote.

Berkshire First Assistant District Attorney Marianne Shelvey told the judge Boschetto “admitted to this behavior and admitted to following through and actually doing this on previous occasions.” While no specifics on prior incidents were given, she reiterated in court that Boschetto admitted to “prior conduct of this (type) with an underage child.”

Defense attorney David Pixley argued that Boschetto expressed hesitation in texts and never showed up to meet the girl. He said the evidence does not clearly demonstrate an intent to commit the crime.

Judge John McKenna approved $5,000 bail with conditions that Boschetto have no unsupervised contact with minors and not possess firearms. His firearms license has been suspended and weapons were removed from his home.

Boschetto has served with Auburn police since March 2023 and previously worked as a 911 dispatcher. He is a six-year U.S. Army veteran with an honorable discharge as a sergeant. Town payroll records show he earned about $119,000 in 2024. He owns a home in Brookfield and has no children.

Auburn Police Chief Todd Lemon confirmed Boschetto was placed on paid administrative leave and said the allegations are “reprehensible and deeply offensive to every member of the Auburn Police Department.” Deputy Chief R. Scott Mills, who is conducting the internal affairs investigation, added, “This is a violation of the public’s trust.”

Boschetto was one of ten men arrested in the sting operation conducted by the Berkshire County Law Enforcement Task Force with support from North Adams Police Department detectives.

Others arrested in the operation, according to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office, include:

  • Sydney Brodrick, 21, of Pittsfield — charged with possession and distribution of obscene material.
