PEPPERELL — A 27-year-old woman from Pepperell died Saturday afternoon in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 91 South in Thetford, Vermont, according to the Vermont State Police.
Alyssa Tetreault, a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. She was not wearing a seatbelt.
The crash occurred around 1:54 p.m. on May 3, near mile marker 83.4, during rainy weather and wet road conditions. Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks responded to the scene and found a 2004 Pontiac GTO had veered off the road and struck a guardrail before rolling over.
The driver, 40-year-old Joseph Hamilton of Plaistow, New Hampshire, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Two juvenile passengers — an 8-year-old from Billerica and a 5-year-old from Pepperell — were also taken to the hospital with suspected minor injuries.
Vermont State Police said Hamilton has been cited to appear in Orange County Criminal Court on June 11 to face a charge of gross negligent operation resulting in death.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Trooper Rodzel at the St. Johnsbury Barracks at 802-222-4680. The Thetford Fire Department, Upper Valley Ambulance, and the Vermont Agency of Transportation assisted troopers at the scene.
