SUDBURY — A van fire that spread to the exterior of a home on Maynard Road was brought under control in minutes Saturday morning.
At approximately 10:39 a.m. on July 5, the Sudbury Fire Department was dispatched to 220 Maynard Road following a report of a vehicle on fire in the driveway of a residence, Sudbury Fire Chief Timothy Choate reported in a statement.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find a van fully engulfed in flames with the fire beginning to reach the exterior of the single-family home. Crews stretched a hose line and quickly knocked down the majority of the flames before they could reach the interior of the residence.

The fire was brought under control within 10 minutes. No injuries were reported, and no one was displaced. The home was under renovation at the time of the blaze, Chief Choate said.
“We’re fortunate, in a sense, that this fire was very close to our headquarters fire station, because crews were able to get on scene quickly to initiate a quick knockdown,” Chief Choate said. “This was a good stop by the firefighters on duty and our mutual aid partners.”
Firefighters from Maynard and Wayland provided mutual aid at the scene, while crews from Framingham, Concord, and Stow covered Sudbury’s fire stations.
The cause of the initial vehicle fire remains under investigation by the District 14 Fire Investigation Teami.
