GLOUCESTER — On Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, at approximately 2:35 a.m., Gloucester firefighters were dispatched to Joe’s Auto Body, located at 150 Eastern Avenue, following a report of a fire.
When Gloucester Fire Department crews arrived on scene, the auto body shop was fully involved.
According to a statement from Gloucester’s Fire Chief Eric Smith, firefighters quickly deployed two hose lines, activated high-capacity master streams, and used an elevated ladder pipe — a large nozzle mounted atop an aerial ladder truck — to direct water from above and contain the flames. National Grid was also called to shut off power to the site.

The fire was brought under control in about an hour.
No injuries were reported.
Chief Smith said the fire does not appear suspicious, but the cause remains under investigation by the Gloucester Fire Department and the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit with the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The Rockport Fire Department and Beauport Ambulance provided mutual aid coverage during the incident.
