MARLBOROUGH — A 37-year-old man from Marlborough who was arrested for possessing child pornography in February is facing new charges after detectives uncovered additional explicit material in his possession last week.
According to a statement from the Marlborough Police Department, last month, detectives with the Marlborough Police Department were informed by members of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that images/videos of suspected child sexual abuse material (CSAM) had been uploaded to at least two Google Cloud accounts from a residence in Marlborough.
“A subpoena was filed through the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office and several search warrants were issued by the Marlborough District Court,” the Marlborough Police Department said in its statement.
Michael L. Ryan, 37 — previously arrested by Marlborough police in February 2025 on similar allegations — was identified as the suspect.
On Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, detectives with the Marlborough Police Department located Ryan and seized several electronic devices in his possession.
The devices were brought to the Marlborough Police Department for forensic analysis. Detectives said some contained images of young children, believed to be under 18, depicted in a lewd state of nudity or engaging in sex acts.
“These findings, as well as other data found on the devices, led detectives to another Google Cloud account Mr. Ryan created and accessed,” the Marlborough Police Department said in its statement. “Detectives then obtained a search warrant for this secondary account and discovered more videos of very young children depicted in a lewd state of nudity and/or sex act.”
On Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, Michael Ryan was taken into custody and charged with three counts of possessing child pornography. He was later transported to Marlborough District Court for arraignment.
