CARVER — The Carver Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that took place at Sampson Pond last night.
Carver Police Chief Marc Duphily said that at about 7:37 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, a woman came to the Carver police station and reported she had been shot at Sampson Pond.
“Officers observed what appeared to be a gunshot wound to her leg,” Chief Duphily said.
Carver EMS responded to the police station, treated the 28-year-old former Carver resident, and transported her by ambulance to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
“Carver Police searched the area where the shooting was reported to have occurred. Numerous officers and resources were deployed to the area, including the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing helicopter, a Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit, and a drone unit from the Rochester Police Department,” Chief Duphily said.
Investigators said the preliminary investigation indicates the incident was not a random act and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
“We are taking this report very seriously and are devoting all necessary resources to determine exactly what happened,” Chief Duphily said. “We ask residents to report any information they believe is relevant to the investigation to our department.”
The incident is still under investigation by the Carver Police Department.
