CHARLTON — On Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, shortly before 5:00 p.m., Charlton police and firefighters were dispatched to the intersection of Worcester Road (Route 20) and H. Putnam Road Extension following multiple reports of a motor vehicle crash near the intersection.
According to a statement from the Charlton Police Department, when first responders arrived on scene, they were met with the aftermath of a significant crash involving a minivan and a motorcycle.
A preliminary investigation found that a 2022 Kia Carnival minivan, turning from westbound Route 20 (Worcester Road) onto H. Putnam Road Extension, collided with a 2025 Kawasaki ZR900 motorcycle traveling eastbound on Route 20.
The driver of the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and was transported by Charlton Fire Department ambulance to UMass Memorial’s University Campus, where he later died. The minivan’s driver was uninjured and remained at the scene to speak with police.
The crash remains under investigation by Charlton Police, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services, and State Police detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
The crash scene was cleared at about 8:10 p.m.
