CHELMSFORD — Two people were killed in a house fire early this morning at 270 Littleton Road.
According to the Chelmsford Fire Department, when crews first arrived on scene, they reported seeing flames inside the residence. Firefighters immediately began suppression efforts and a primary search of the structure.
“Chelmsford firefighters removed two victims from the residence during the primary search of the structure,” the Chelmsford Fire Department said in its statement. “Sadly, both individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Chelmsford Fire Department, Chelmsford Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, and the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones affected by this tragedy,” the department said.
Station coverage was provided by the Westford and Lowell Fire Departments while Chelmsford firefighters were on scene.
Authorities have not released any further information at this time.
