Two teens stabbed at Stoneham intersection after masked man approaches car

STONEHAM — At approximately 1 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, Stoneham police responded to the Spring Street area in Wakefield after receiving reports of a stabbing.

According to a statement from Stoneham’s Police Chief James O’Connor, a preliminary investigation indicates the incident began in Stoneham.

When officers arrived on scene they located a gray Chevrolet Trax.

“Armstrong Ambulance had transported two victims to an area hospital,” Chief O’Connor said.

The driver, an 18-year-old male, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger, also 18, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

“A subsequent investigation suggests that the vehicle was stopped near an unknown intersection, in Stoneham, when an individual wearing a dark hoodie and a mask approached the driver and passenger and was armed with a knife,” Chief O’Connor said. “The driver of the vehicle then continued traveling over the Wakefield line before coming to a stop.”

At this time, investigators do not believe there is any threat to the public.

The incident remains under investigation by Stoneham police detectives in collaboration with Massachusetts State Police.
