HOPKINTON — A Hopkinton police officer and a local resident helped extinguish a burning truck following a crash on Wood Street early Thursday morning.
According to a statement from the Hopkinton Police Department, at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025, Officer Eva Cann responded to the area of 130 Wood Street after dispatch received reports of a truck that had gone off the roadway. Police said secondary reports soon came in reporting that the vehicle was on fire.

When Officer Cann arrived on scene, she found the truck engulfed in flames and confirmed that all occupants had exited the vehicle safely. With the assistance of a resident from a nearby town, she worked quickly to extinguish the fire, police said.
Sergeant Shannon Beloin and Officer Aline Matos arrived shortly after to assist, and the Hopkinton Fire Department took over once on scene.
Police said the driver was evaluated at the scene by emergency personnel.
The cause of the crash was not included in the Hopkinton Police Department’s statement.
