WEBSTER — On Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, at approximately 9:34 p.m., Officer Jonathan Brooks of the Webster Police Department responded to 9 Pearl Street following a report of a highly intoxicated man, identified as Erick Soucy, who was allegedly refusing to leave the residence.

Officer Brooks reported that the reporting party said she was parked down the street in her vehicle with her children to separate herself from Soucy.

“Upon our arrival at 9 Pearl Street, Officer [Nicholas] Trinque and I located Erick sitting on the front porch of the residence,” Officer Brooks said. “Officer Trinque identified himself and attempted to determine what had transpired that evening. Erick became instantly aggressive and confrontational with us. Erick began screaming, telling us we were trespassing, and to get off his porch.”

According to police, Erick S. Soucy, 37, is a resident of Elm Street in Webster, MA.

Officer Brooks stated that he and Officer Trinque informed Soucy they would not be leaving and needed to determine what had happened that evening. Officer Brooks said Soucy kept repeating that the officers were trespassing, talking in circles instead of explaining what had happened.

“It was evident Erick was highly intoxicated as he had extremely slurred speech, standing approximately five feet away both Officer Trinque and I could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverages emanating from him,” Officer Brooks added.

Officer Brooks stated that he and Officer Trinque continued trying to speak with Soucy in an effort to separate him and the reporting party for the evening.

“I asked him numerous times if he could stay with a friend or family member for the evening. He refused the requests even after being advised due to his level of intoxication he could be placed under protective custody,” Officer Brooks said. “Erick continued with his belligerent, aggressive, and confrontational behavior, yelling and screaming attempting to gain the attention of the neighbors. Officer Trinque and I attempted to deescalate the situation numerous times, but were unsuccessful. I then told Erik to place his hands behind his back as he was now under arrest (protective custody).”

Officer Brooks stated that he secured Soucy’s left hand and attempted to place it behind his back while Officer Trinque tried to secure his right arm.

“Erick continued to resist being placed into handcuffs after being told numerous times he was under arrest,” Officer Soucy said. “He continuously tensed his arm muscles and attempted to pull them away from us. We were located in a small corner of the porch against a wall and table. Due to the tight and confined space, and his resistive behavior, we could not secure his arms behind his back resulting in us forcing Erick to the ground, where he still continued to resist.”

Officer Brooks stated that Soucy was eventually placed in handcuffs and secured in the rear passenger seat of a cruiser.

“I then requested Webster EMS to the Police Department to evaluate Erik, as he sustained a laceration to his chin as a result of his actively resistive behavior, striking the wooden deck of the porch,” Officer Brooks said. “During transport to the Webster Police Department, he continuously kicked the rear passenger door and slamming his head off the divider in the cruiser.”

Officer Brooks stated that upon arriving at the police department, Soucy was removed from the cruiser in the sally port and escorted into the booking room.

Officer Brooks stated that once inside the booking room, Soucy was seated on a bench, where he continued yelling and screaming at officers, saying, “I’m going to kill you and shoot you in the head, take these cuffs [off] and I’ll kick your a$$es.”

“He then made further threats to us and said he would, ‘F*ck our wives,’ amongst other vial comments,” Officer Brooks said.

At this time, Webster EMS arrived at the police station to evaluate Soucy.

“Paramedics advised me the laceration would not require stitches,” Officer Brooks said. “Erick was not transported to the hospital.”

According to Officer Brooks, after Soucy’s medical evaluation, Sergeant Joseph Reed asked if he would cooperate with the booking process, but Soucy began screaming and said he would not comply.

“Sgt. Reed requested we cut the top layers of clothing off due to his threats of violence towards us,” Officer Brooks said.

Soucy was then searched and escorted to a holding cell.

“When we arrived at the door to the cell, Sgt. Reed instructed him to go to his knees so we could remove the handcuffs, but Erick actively resisted going to his knees, and attempted to push his way backwards,” Officer Brooks said. “Sgt. Reed and I both attempted distraction techniques to buckle his knees to bring him to the ground. A struggle ensued where Erick was again forced to the ground.”

Officer Brooks stated that while Soucy was on the ground, the officers were able to remove his handcuffs, step back from him, and then secure the cell door.

“Before leaving the cell hallway, Erick began yelling and screaming, kicking the cell walls and door,” Officer Brooks said. “He then began purposely taking his hands, rubbing them on the laceration, and smearing his blood onto the walls of the cell. He was told to stop or he would be charged with vandalism as a company would have to come decontaminate the cell. He then continued to purposely smear the blood throughout the cell.”

Erick Soucy was charged with the following:

  1. Resist Arrest
  2. Disorderly Conduct
  3. Vandalize Property
  4. Protective Custody

Soucy’s arraignment was scheduled for the morning of Aug. 20, 2025, in Dudley District Court.
